What’s available at North Sterling

From basic tent sites to hook-ups for RVs, North Sterling can accommodate everything from the largest motorhomes to the smallest pup tent. There is also one ADA-accessible site. North Sterling is open year-round, though services are limited during the winter months.

Reserve a Campsite

A reservation is required to camp at North Sterling State Park, and it’s easy to make one. Reservations can be made online at cpwshop.com or by phone at 1-800-244-5613. Reservations can be made from three days before you arrive at the park (if sites are available) up to six months in advance of your arrival date. Visitors are required to display a vehicle pass and have a valid reservation.

Know Before You Go

    The park offers amenities to make your stay more comfortable. Amenities include:

    • ADA-accessible campsite
    • Fire ring
    • Camper services building with flush toilets
    • Coin-operated laundry and showers
    • Level parking area
    • Shaded picnic tables

    When you camp at North Sterling State Park, check-in time is 1 p.m. on the day of arrival and check-out time is 12 p.m. (noon) on the day of departure. A reservation is necessary, and camping is allowed only in designated areas. Please do not park on the grass or off the roadway. The maximum stay is 14 days within a 28-day period. A maximum of six people are allowed per campsite. 

    Leashed pets are allowed at campsites. All pets must be under control and on a maximum six-foot leash at all times, and not attached to any park signs, trees, shrubs or hydrants. Pets may not be left unattended, and pet owners must promptly clean up after their pets. 

    The Elks campground is open year-round, but water systems are winterized from October to April to prevent freezing. For winter campers, a vault restroom is located in the southwest corner of the large boat ramp parking lot, near the Visitor Center.
