Best of Rifle Gap
The Reservoir
The park's main attraction is a 350-acre reservoir where visitors can boat, fish, jet ski and water ski.
Jet Skiing
Jet skiing is becoming an increasingly popular sport at the reservoir. Be familiar with no-wake zones and no-boat areas. Please check at the aquatic nuisance species station for life jackets if you do not have them for each person riding the jet skies. Jet skis will need to be inspected for aquatic nuisance species before launch.
Picknicking
At 6,000 feet and surrounded by pinyon- and cedar-covered mountains, visitors enjoy a scenic setting for their outdoor meals. Rifle Gap offers multiple sites and beautiful views. Sites are available on first-come, first-served basis.
Camping
Nestled behind the Grand Hogback and below the White River National Forest, Rifle Gap State Park is a perfect place to experience clear mountain skies. With 89 campsites, Rifle Gap is a great spot to plan an overnight stargazing trip. Enjoy breathtaking views of the night sky from one of the many wide-open campsites.
