DELTA, Colo. – The entrance to Sweitzer Lake State Park will be periodically closed Oct. 21 through Oct. 23 because of construction.

As part of a larger upgrade project at Sweitzer Lake State Park, construction crews this week will place a new sewer line and manhole in the middle of the road along the entrance to the park. Visitors should expect delays getting into and out of the park during the construction.

“We appreciate everyone’s understanding while we undergo a lot of upgrades around the park,” said Sweitzer Lake State Park Manager Scott Rist. “By temporarily closing the road, it will allow the work to be completed faster and keep crews safe.”

As part of the Sweitzer Lake State Park master plan, the park is expanding from 314 acres to more than 600 acres while creating new campgrounds, cabins, a new visitor center and additional recreational amenities.
