What’s available at Golden Gate Canyon
Open to the public year-round, Golden Gate Canyon offers camping, cabins, yurts and a guest house. Full hook-up camping and more rugged backcountry experiences are available. Cabins and yurts can accommodate up to six people, and have electric lights and natural gas heating. The guest house, complete with linen service, offers a touch of luxury amidst the wilderness.

The cabins, nestled between lush aspen groves and pine-covered hills, accommodate a maximum of six people. The cabins have two bunk beds, one twin-size and one double-size. Outside each cabin is a campfire ring and a stand-up grill for cooking.

Yurts are round tents on a wooden frame with circular skylights and windows to provide illumination. Each yurt at Golden Gate Canyon accommodates up to six people with two bunk beds (twin and double) with mattresses. Outside, a campfire ring and grill await.

Reserve a Campsite

A reservation is required to camp at Golden Gate Canyon State Park, and it’s easy to make one. Reservations can be made for campsites, yurts and cabins online at cpwshop.com or by phone at 1-800-244-5613. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance of your arrival date. Visitors are required to display a vehicle pass and have a valid reservation.
Know Before You Go
Whether you’re camping in a tent or RV, Golden Gate Canyon’s campsites offer amenities to make your stay more comfortable. Amenities include:

- Shower and laundry facilities (closed during winter)
- Electrical hook-ups
- Dump station (closed during winter)
Campsites 15 and 16 will accommodate horses. Campers have the option of tethering, cobbling or erecting a temporary corral for their horses. There is room to park a traditional horse trailer at both of these sites, but not a combination horse trailer/RV.
When you camp at Golden Gate Canyon State Park, check-in time is 1 p.m. on the day of arrival and check-out time is 12 p.m. (noon) on the day of departure. A reservation is necessary, and camping is allowed only in designated areas. The maximum stay is 14 days within a 28-day period. A maximum of six people, two motorized vehicles and only one camping unit is allowed per individual site. Group campgrounds can accommodate up to 75 campers, depending on the campground. Parking on vegetation may result in a fine. Please do not tie anything, including hammocks, to the trees.
There is no cell or internet service in the Golden Gate Canyon State Park area. Emergency call boxes are located at the Visitor Center and Reverend's Ridge Campground office.
All pets must be under control and on a maximum six-foot leash at all times and not attached to any park signs, trees, shrubs or hydrants. Pets may not be left unattended, and pet owners must promptly clean up after their pets. Leashed pets are allowed in campgrounds, picnic areas and on designated trails. Pets are not allowed at the guest house.
Yurts and cabins are open year-round. Reverend's Ridge campground remains open at a limited capacity for the winter season. All sites are reservation only. The camp office, shower building and dump station are closed in the winter.

Pets are permitted in cabins 1, 3, 4 and 5 for a fee of $10 per night. The fee is per night, not per pet. Cabin 2 is pet free.
