What to Do at Trinidad Lake

Nestled in the Sangre de Cristo Mountain foothills of southern Colorado, Trinidad Lake State Park offers recreational opportunities, wildlife and beautiful mountain views. The park features a lake for water activities, an archery range, 10+ miles of trails, picnic areas, seasonal hunting and unique geological formations. Near the amphitheater, there's a functional adobe oven and Native American archaeological site.

The park's main attraction is an 800-surface-acre lake. Visitors can boat, fish, jet ski and water ski on the lake.

Archery Range

The Trinidad State Park Archery Range is a self-serve range that offers visitors five static target lanes and one 3D target lane. Restrooms and picnic tables nearby.

Biking

Up to 18 miles of trails and numerous paved and unpaved access roads, Trinidad Lake State Park offers a wide range of opportunities for street and mountain biking.

Lakeside Picnicking

After playing on the lake or at the park, hungry explorers can relax at one of several individual picnic tables. Lakeside tables next to boat ramps are available and provide great fishing access. Covered shelters with grills, access to potable water and flush restrooms are found on the overlook.

    The park is open for hunting by archery or shotgun loaded with birdshot only during established hunting seasons, starting the first Tuesday after Labor Day through the Friday before Memorial Day. Hunting licenses are available for purchase at the Visitor Center.
