Routt County Stage 2 Fire Restrictions -
Effective until further notice: Building, maintaining, attending, or using an open fire, campfire, or open flame outdoors is PROHIBITED, including in developed campgrounds & picnic areas. This includes charcoal grills, BBQs, coal & wood-burning stoves. More info: Routt County.
River Users -
Due to low water conditions in the Yampa River, downstream travel is not recommended. Utilizing river bottom or shoreline on private property could result in trespassing violations. As of 6-23-2026 the CFS was 335 near Hayden. Learn more.

Colorado state parks have a variety of employment and volunteer opportunities. Jobs include naturalists and maintenance and administrative work, and range from full to part time and temporary. Campground Host
Volunteer host responsibilities include: assist rangers with projects and maintenance, evening walkthrough of campground for visitor interaction, and management/care of host site vegetation which includes tree watering, weed control and mowing.
