Get Involved

Whether you are an avid hiker, mountain biker or hunter, or you simply appreciate all the Colorado outdoors has to offer, there are many ways you can get involved. Colorado state parks have a variety of employment and volunteer opportunities. Jobs include naturalists and maintenance and administrative work, and range from full to part time and temporary. Volunteer opportunities include wildlife monitoring and campground host. Check out the opportunities below for more information.

Education Program Assistance

Volunteers may assist with interpretation, education, and/or outdoor skill stations for student field trips as needed. Program information/outlines and education kits are made available when appropriate for activities.

Maintenance and Construction

Duties may include: Repair and construct fence, clean up park grounds and facilities, complete special or seasonal maintenance tasks such as boat dock repair, carpentry, remodeling or other construction projects and provide landscape design and/or assist with minor vehicle/boat/equipment repairs and maintenance.

Employees inside the Crawford Visitor Center that has a large aquarium, books, educational materials and animal mounts on the walls.

Visitor Services

Volunteers may assist with a variety of clerical and general office support duties, including answering phones, greeting and assisting park visitors with park and local area info, as well as campsite reservations, sell park passes, registrations and licenses, monitor radio communications, sell merchandise, restock fliers and assist with special events as needed.

Campground Host

Contribute your time to the rewarding operations at Crawford or Paonia State Park by serving as a camp host. Enjoy the mountainous terrain and the geological wonders of the area. Responsibilities may include assisting campers, maintaining campsites, selling firewood and other tasks as assigned.
