Whats New
The 2026 Colorado Small Game and Waterfowl Brochure is available.For all 17 of Colorado’s furbearer species, the bag limit is now two per species per day. Beaver season is now Oct. 1 through March 31 annually. Additionally, mandatory checking and sealing of all recreationally-harvested beaver is now required.

Need to Know
What you need to buy a license
- Proper identification and proof of residency (for Colorado residents).
- Proof of hunter education.
- A Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number is required for hunters age 12 and older, per federal law.
- Habitat Stamp: An annual ($12.76) habitat stamp is automatically added to a license purchase for anyone ages 18 to 64. Residents with a Colorado lifetime license are exempt.

Hunt Furbearers
Hunters can purchase a furbearer license. This license will allow hunters to harvest furbearers only.
Hunt Furbearers and Small Game
Hunters can purchase a small game license and the new annual furbearer harvest permit. This will allow hunters to hunt all small game and furbearer species.
Need to Know
Hunting Coyote
IMPORTANT: While coyote are considered furbearers, you do not need a furbearer harvest permit to hunt this species. You may hunt coyote with a furbearer license, a small game license, or a small game license with a furbearer harvest permit.
Register with the Harvest Information Program (HIP)
Coyote hunters must register with the Harvest Information Program on CPWShop.com before their license is valid.

Hunting Bobcat
Bobcat Seals Required
The hunter must personally present all bobcats or their pelts to CPW for inspection and sealing. You must have bobcats and pelts sealed within 30 days after take or within five days after the season closes, whichever is sooner. Any bobcat hide or pelt that remains unsealed more than five days after the season closes is illegal to possess and becomes the property of the state.

Beaver Seals Required
The hunter must personally present recreationally-harvested beavers or their pelts to CPW for inspection and sealing. You must have beavers and pelts sealed within 30 days after take or within five days after the season closes, whichever is sooner.
Those who take beaver under Colorado’s damage and nuisance regulations and statutes are not required to have those beaver checked or sealed. Beaver taken under this exception may be possessed, sold, bartered or traded without a seal. Though it is not required, you may request that CPW seal beaver taken under this exception.
