There are two campgrounds at Trinidad Lake with a total of 73 sites. The South Shore Campground has ten non-electric sites within walking distance of the lake. All these RV-friendly sites have panoramic views of the lake and surrounding mountains. The Carpios Ridge Campground--located up on a ridge, 150 feet above the lake--has 63 campsites that can accommodate RVs, trailers or tents.

Modern facilities at Carpios Ridge campground include:

  • Centrally-located water hydrants;

  • 50–amp electrical service at all sites;

  • Full hookups at seven sites (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 62 and 63) year round; 

  • The camper services building with showers, laundry and flush toilets is open from mid March to mid Oct. and is only available for camping guests. During the winter season, the family restrooms are available for camping guests only.

  • 24-hour restroom facilities just outside the campground--open year-round also; and 

  • A dump station located near the campground entrance. Please use this facility; it’s illegal to dump waste and sewage, including dishwater, anywhere else.

Campground Information

The campground is patrolled for your safety and to ensure quiet after 10 p.m.

  • Check-in time for campsites is 1:00 PM. ​  
  • Check-out time is 12:00 noon.
  • All campsites are available by reservation only.
  • Occupation of a site without a reservation will not be permitted.
  • The 3-day reservation window does not apply at this park.
  • Customers can still make reservations up to six months in advance.  Sites are available for reservation 24/7.

Winter Camping

Year-round camping is available at sites 1-23, 62 and 63 with electricity available at all sites and water taps scattered throughout the campground. Sites 1-4, 6, 62 and 63 are full hookup sites and are available year round.   Sites 24-61 are closed between Mid October to mid March.  The South Shore Campground is closed between mid October to mid May.

Accessible Camping

Universally accessible facilities are available at the Carpios Ridge Campground and picnic area. Restrooms, showers, picnic tables and drinking fountains are also accessible.
