Interpretive Programming

The park offers on-site interpretive programming to educate park visitors about the many wonders of Lory State Park.

At this time, Lory offers limited off-site programming, such as school field trips to schools and community groups.

Picnics and Receptions

    This spot is popular for weddings, triathlons and other special events.

    • Fees: $10 reservation fee
    • Monday through Friday: $150 per two-hour increment
    • Saturday or Sunday: $300 per two-hour increment

    To reserve the Soldier Canyon Group Picnic Area, please call the park office at 970-493-1623.

    The Soldier Canyon waterfall is a short walk from the picnic area and runs during the early spring.

    Large Group Fees

    Groups larger than 50 people will be charged an additional $0.50 per person over the 50-person cap. 

    Cancelling a Reservation

    Cancellation with over two weeks' notice incurs a 25% base reservation fee, while cancellations within less than two weeks receive no refund.

    Nearby Nature Viewing

    Enjoy nature at Lory State Park. 

    Enjoy lunch at the South Eltuck picnic area while taking in a breathtaking view of Horsetooth Reservoir. In early spring, take a short walk from Timber Group and see Soldier Canyon’s seasonal waterfall. While you’re on a trail, look up and you might spot one of the many birds that call Lory home, like a cedar waxwing or a white-crowned sparrow.
