Biking Information

Biking is a wonderful way to stay active and take in the gorgeous scenery our state has to offer. Colorado's public lands include many miles of biking trails, and there's something for everyone. Whether you're strapping your helmet on in preparation for an intense workout, a big adventure, or a relaxed family ride, our state park routes are the way to go.

It is also easy to plan a custom ride using the Colorado Trail Explorer, COTREX, a trail map that aims to map every trail in the state of Colorado.

Events

18 Hours of Fruita
Friday, May 5

One of the most beloved endurance events on the western slope. With a fast and fun singletrack lap located within the “posh environs” of Highline Lake State Park, with its green grass and warm showers, makes this a great race to kick off the season. Beginning at midnight and racing for 18 hours straight, this local favorite event is a great way to kick off the summer racing season. Bookcliff Campground will be closed Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights for the event. The Day Use Area on the east side of the park will also be closed Friday afternoon and Saturday. Desert's Edge Triathlon Festival
Saturday, September 16

The perfect way to end the Colorado tri season. The Desert's Edge Tri Festival brings you a fun filled day of racing, a weekend of camping with other triathletes and their fans, and a bittersweet end to the Colorado Tri Season. This year will be hosted and managed by a local event company, Grand Junction Sports Commission and you will still be in great hands! Desert's Edge weekend includes both Sprint and Olympic options with an Off Road feature! Park Impacts for Non-Racers: - Campground closed Friday and Saturday nights - Day Use Area closed Saturday and Sunday until 2pm - Lake closed to boating until 2pm (will reopen sooner if all racers are done with the swim)
