Bighorn Sheep Report CoverPopulation Estimation, Survival Estimation and Range Delineation for the Georgetown Bighorn Sheep Herd: Final Report

The Georgetown bighorn sheep herd is one of the largest bighorn sheep herds in Colorado. It is also one of the most highly valued for the opportunities it provides for hunting and wildlife viewing and as a source for reintroductions throughout Colorado and other states. Colorado Parks and Wildlife has been monitoring this herd through annual ground surveys since 1988 and 1992, respectively. These surveys have provided valuable information on the herd, however, they do not provide all of the data desired to refine the management of the herd, to better understand its population dynamics and to mitigate the effects and reduce the threats associated with human activities within the range of the herd. A study was, therefore, initiated in 2005 with numerous objectives. Read more detail and find out the conclusion of this final report.
