Mountain Lion exams can be completed online below, or in-person at a Colorado Parks and Wildlife office.
Familiarize yourself with the Mountain Lion hunting regulations and Lion identification information found in the exam guide and current hunting brochure.
Scoring 80% or higher is required to pass the exam.
Exam results will be automatically reported to and stored in CPW's licensing system so you may purchase a license.
Please allow 1 hour after successfully passing the exam for our electronic systems to update your record.
Lion hunters must have their Mountain Lion Certification verified on their Customer Identification Number (CID) to be able to purchase a mountain lion license. Once you have been verified on your CID, you do not need to carry the certificate or wallet card.
To successfully complete the Mountain Lion Certification Exam, all questions must be answered.
