Terrestrial Conservation

The work of our terrestrial conservation team is essentially divided into three blocks:

Biologists oversee species-specific projects in order to monitor and benefit species of greatest conservation need as outlined in the State Wildlife Action Plan. This category includes the highest volume of our work.
The Resource Stewardship Program is park-specific and aims to carry on wildlife viewing opportunities and cultural resources for generations to come. This section includes raptor monitoring as well as citizen science opportunities like the NatureFinder app.
The Colorado Natural Areas Program pinpoints many of Colorado’s most special places. These areas may include rare plants that need protection or interesting rock formations that make a great hiking destination. These designated areas represent the very best of our state.

Each of these three branches is full of interesting micro projects, goals, and challenges of their own!
