Approved  Lake Management Plan (LMP) for Rifle Gap Reservoir

As a partner in the Upper Colorado River Endangered Fish Recovery Program, CPW has finalized the approved Lake Management Plan (LMP) for Rifle Gap Reservoir .

The plan describes fish species management within the reservoir in accordance with the cooperative agreement establishing Procedures for Stocking Nonnative Fish Species in the Upper Colorado River Basin (Stocking Procedures), signed by the state wildlife agencies of Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) (USFWS 1996 and USFWS 2009, revised).

Per these stocking procedures, fish species other than trout cannot be stocked into Rifle Gap Reservoir without an LMP approved by these signatories.

CPW revised the proposed LMP to address concerns by the approving authorities.  Conditions for plan approval were added to the proposed LMP, and a Final Lake Management Plan for Rifle Gap Reservoir was approved by the USFWS in 2015.
