Boyd Lake’s swim beach is the perfect destination on a scorching summer day with the kids! The beach is easily accessible from the parking area and includes a large buoyed-off no wake zone. A pavilion near the beach features rinsing showers, flush toilets, and a playground! Enjoy lunch or a refreshing treat from the nearby Fun Foods snack bar and spend the whole day soaking up the sunshine. Off-boat swimming is also allowed at Boyd Lake in the designated no-wake zones.
Pack a picnic and hit the beach! The buoyed-off swim area at
Highline Lake is right next to the grassy picnic area, so you can make a whole day of it! Highline Lake boasts 60°-80°F waters with a nice gradual increase in depth. Highline Lake, near Grand Junction, is a gorgeous oasis where you and the kids can relax in the shallows all day long.

Steamboat Lake is our top choice! Head up to northern Colorado’s gem for a refreshing dip in Steamboat Lake. There’s plenty of wildlife for the little ones to observe, and the mountain scene makes for the ultimate relaxing setting. Located in the Dutch Hill area adjacent to the Marina parking lot, the Steamboat Lake swim beach is an easily accessible spot for fun in the sun.

Lathrop’s Martin Lake is another excellent warm-water option and a perfect choice for all kinds of water recreation. This swim area has recently seen huge improvements: now visitors can enjoy paved walks, a nearby parking lot, picnic tables and even a lap lane! There’s something for everyone, from families to those looking for a fun way to exercise.
Jackson Lake, called “an oasis of the plains,” is an ideal getaway for fun-seeking families! Swimming is allowed at both the West and the South Shore, out to the no wake buoys. Since the lake is shallow, it warms up quickly, so you can spend hours floating on the water and catching some relaxing rays.
