For the last seven years, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) biologists have been studying waterfowl in North Park. This video provides an intimate look at some of the tools and techniques avian researchers are using to better understand Colorado's duck populations and how to more effectively manage wetland habitat.

CPW concludes second year of gray wolf capture and release efforts

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) completed capture and release work for the second gray wolf reintroduction season in support of the Colorado Gray Wolf Restoration and Management Plan. Fifteen wolves were translocated from the central interior of British Columbia to Colorado.

Colorado saw more human-bear conflicts in 2024

Colorado Parks and Wildlife received 5,022 reports of sightings and conflicts with bears in 2024 which is 14.8% higher than the previous 5-years. Trash continues to be the number one source of conflicts between humans and bears. Of the 5,022 reports CPW received in 2024, 2,225 resulted in property damage to a shed, garage, home, vehicle, fence, etc. Over 50% were linked to trash, 21% to livestock, chickens and beehives, and 18% to bird seed, pet food, barbeque grills, coolers and refrigerators.

Keep Colorado Wild Pass — The Outdoors are for Everyone

For only $29, get a Keep Colorado Wild Pass with your next vehicle registration and share your love of Colorado’s outdoors. The pass gives you entry to all state parks and helps fund outdoor education opportunities in local communities.

State Parks & Recreation—Your pass helps manage Colorado’s 42 state parks, including keeping them clean and building new trails and facilities.

Backcountry Safety—Your pass supports the volunteer and equipment needs of search and rescue professionals across Colorado and avalanche safety programs through the Colorado Avalanche Information Center. 

Wildlife Conservation—Additional money raised not used for state parks and outdoor safety will be used to support the State Wildlife Action Plan, which helps fund wildlife and habitat conservation work for the 960 species that CPW manages.

Local Communities—Your pass supports our natural resources and helps grow outdoor accessibility and educational programs in local communities.
