Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Non-Motorized Trails Program was created with the adoption of Colorado’s
“Recreational Trails Act of 1971” codified in sections 33-11-101 through 33-11-112, Colorado
Revised Statutes.
The Non-motorized Grant Program is a multi-agency funding partnership that
includes Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO), Colorado Lottery, Federal Recreational Trails Program funds (RTP) and Federal Land and Water Conservation funds (LWCF). This Grant
Program provides funding for trail planning projects as well as small and large trail construction
and maintenance projects.
An important piece of managing non-motorized trails is through the use of statutes, laws and regulations. For specific information, see CPW's Regulations and Regulation Brochures pages.
