  • Boat Ramps

    The Boat ramp is open 

    Hand-launched vessels can be launched at the North-East Access. Inspections are required for all motorized and non-exempt vessels.

    Exempt vessels are: kayaks, canoes, rafts, belly boats, windsurfers (paddle boards), sailboards, foldable plastic boats, float tubes and inner tubes.​

  • Camping

    Bear's Ears Campground is OPEN for the season. Pronghorn Campground is OPEN for the season
    Sites at Bear's Ears Campground or Pronghorn Campground can be reserved online or by calling 1-800-244-5613​.

  • Icing Conditions

    Lake is iced off

    Before going out onto a frozen lake, pond or river, it's important to take safety precautions to reduce the risk of falling through the ice. Knowing how to judge ice conditions will also help you make more informed decisions while enjoying winter activities.​​

  • Swimming Conditions

    Swimming is permitted at any designated "wakeless" areas on Elkhead Reservoir. Colorado State Park swim beaches do not have lifeguards on duty. Swim at your own risk. Children must be supervised by adults at all times.

  • Trails

    There are numerous trails around the Elkhead Reservoir. Most are short hikes, but the photo opportunities are endless. 
    Please remember to use the self-serve Iron Ranger at the main entrance to the boat ramp that will take Credit or debit cards or the other self-serve fee tubes at other locations for the daily entrance fee unless you have the annual sticker on your windshield.
