Vega is open for hunting by archery and shotguns loaded with bird-shot, starting the first Tuesday after Labor Day through the Friday before Memorial Day, during established hunting seasons set by Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
Many people camp or stay in a cabin at Vega and then hunt on the adjacent Grand Mesa National Forest. PLEASE OBSERVE ALL RULES ASSOCIATED WITH HUNTING IN THE PARK. You must be 100 yards from any structure or developed area such as campgrounds and picnic areas, boat ramps or nature trails, and 50 feet from the center-line of any road before shooting.
Call the park at (970) 487-3407 for more hunting information and additional park regulations. You may buy hunting licenses at the Visitor's Center open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
