For Big Game Hunting

This system is used for making reservations on specific properties for big game hunting. Some properties listed may also offer small game, waterfowl or turkey hunting - reservation information for these species can be found on the small game/waterfowl reservation page. 


Reservations will be available starting at 9 a.m., 45 days in advance of the hunting season and must be made by 12 noon seven (7) days before the start of the hunting season.

Hunters can make reservations online or by phone at 1-800-244-5613. 

Reservations must be made for ALL properties that require them.​

Reservations are available 45 days in advance of the hunting season and are not impacted by most holidays.

RESERVE ONLINE OR BY PHONE: Hunters can make reservations online at CPWshop.com or by phone at 1-800-244-5613, starting at 9 a.m.. Reservations must be made for ALL properties that require them.​

  • When making a reservation online, it is suggested hunters FIRST log into their online account and THEN search for the property and site they are interested in.

  • Reservations are available 45 days in advance of the hunting season (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) and are not impacted by holidays with the exception of Christmas. Please note that from 8 p.m. 12/24 to 4 a.m. 12/26 hunting reservations can ONLY be made ONLINE. The phone line will be closed during that time frame prohibiting hunting reservations by phone. Please plan accordingly.

LOG IN EARLY: Hunters are encouraged to visit the system to log into their online account - or create an online account, if they don't already have one - and to get familiar with the system before making a reservation. 

Be prepared with the following:

    • Your CID number (Customer Identification Number) that is on your hunting license. 

    • You must already possess the current year hunting license for the kind of reservation you are making. 

    • A list of properties and areas you are interested in reserving.

    • Know what type of hunting is allowed and during which dates 

      • Carefully read the regulation of your property to understand what is or isn’t allowed. Please check the regulations to make sure you are in compliance.

Rules and Reminders

General Reservation Rules​

Specific rules can vary by property. ​

    • To make a reservation you must have your CID and possess the appropriate license for the species you want to hunt. 

    • Reservations are free, but not transferable.  

    • Using the reservations system, hunters are limited to a maximum of one reservation per hunting season. 

    • The individual named on the reservation must be a licensed hunter and hunt the area and date specified on the reservation. 

Reservations are not accepted more than 45 days in advance of the start of the hunting season, nor after 12 noon seven (7) days before the start of the hunting season. 

Hunters who wish to cancel a reservation must do so no later than 12:00 noon the day before the start of the hunting season. See Cancellation Policy below. 

Hunters with reservations may only hunt the property specified on the reservation.

Cancellation Policy

Reservation cancellations must be done online or by calling 1-800-244-5613 no later than 12:00 noon the day before the start of the hunting season.

Failure to hunt a reserved area without prior cancellation may cause forfeiture of the privilege to make reservations for the remainder of the hunting season.  

Reminders

    • Be sure you have a valid license for GMU and species for the property you wish to make a reservation to hunt! 

    • For your convenience, important CPW phone numbers are listed on the back of your green license. Shooting hours are strictly enforced.
