The Dam maintenance project is coming to a close! You are now able to access the Sage Flats area, but the road down to the Dam is closed to all public access. You can only access the Dam by boat.
Aspen are usually beautiful in this area. The colors start in mid-September and peak late September to early October.
The creeks are open and flowing but water is low. The coves and shoreline are starting to freeze.
The Visitor Center is open. Water in the campgrounds is off for the season. The Camper Services Building is closed. Public access on the road to the dam, from Sage Flats, is closed. Please check out the forest service website for details on National Forest closures in the area.
Summer has gone and fall is here. Many of the trees have already changed and some have lost their leaves, but we've had wonderful hiking weather and lots of little creatures can be seen on our trails!
Brrrrr! The swim beach is closed for the season.
Please note that Colorado Parks and Wildlife swim beaches do not have lifeguards on duty. Swim at your own risk. Children must be supervised by adults at all times.
There have been a number of wildlife sightings including eagles, deer, and the occasional moose. Download the iNaturalist app or Seek to report your wildlife sightings to the park! Make sure you always keep a safe distance from all wildlife.
Low - about 9.5 feet lower than normal for this time of year. Water is being released to support Mountain Whitefish spawning and other endangered fish downstream.
