Make a Reservation

​Camping at all state parks now requires a reservation. For more information, see the camping reservations page. Campsite reservations may be made by calling 1-800-244-5613​ or by reserving online. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Reservations will NOT be accepted at the Park.​

Campground & Campsites

Electric Campsite: $36 per night
Tent Campsite: $28 per night

Mueller's campground has 136 campsites each with a picnic table and fire ring. There are 99 electric sites, many with tent pads and 22 basic walk-in sites in Prospector Ridge (sites 55-66) and Turkey Meadow (sites 100-109) Campgrounds. Sites 12 and 22 are handicapped designated​ sites​. You must have a handicapped placard or license plate.

Campground Amenities
The Comfort Station is open year-round. The Camper Services Building is open only in summer (Mid May - Mid October)  Both buildings contain flush toilets. On-site accommodations​​ include firewood for sale, a camper services building with coin-operated showers/laundry and modern restrooms, vault toilets, dump station and a playground. 

Equestrian Sites

$36 per night, plus an additional $10 per animal per night
Horses are required to camp in sites 133 and 144. Please review the facilities tab for more information.

Group Camping

Mueller offers three group campground opportunities nestled in the aspen and conifer forest, conveniently located near the Camper Services Building.

Pisgah Point Group Loop East ​(4 sites)​

Maximum Occupancy:   4 camping units and 24 people
The campsite includes a group bear box, fire pits, water hydrant and large charcoal grill.

Winter Camping: Mid October - Mid May

Mueller has 29 electrical sites available within the Peak View Campground and the Revenuers Ridge Campground (Sites 1 –9, 11-13, 15-22 and 81 – 89) during the winter. The Comfort Station, containing flush toilets, will remain open. Vault toilets will be open at Outlook Ridge, Peak View Campground and across from site #87. Water is available at the outside spigot at the Comfort Station; all other hydrants are closed, so we suggest bringing your own water. The dump station is dry dump only, which means you will not have water to rinse out your equipment.

Campground Rules

  • One camping unit with up to 6 people is allowed per campsite. The allowable combinations are:  One passenger vehicle and two tents; or one motor home or pickup camper (or a motorized vehicle towing a camping trailer) and one tent (if space permits). One additional passenger vehicle may be parked at a campsite.  
  • Pets are allowed in the campground, picnic areas & on the developed park road system.

Backcountry Campsites

$18.00 per night
Mueller State Park has 4 backcountry campsites located in 2 separate groups. Both backcountry campsite groups require an approximate 1.5 mile hike from the Black Bear Trailhead to the sites. Sites are available to reserve from May 1 through October 31st. All backcountry campsite reservations can be made at cpwshop.com or by calling the reservation line at 1-800-244-5613.

Black Mountain Backcountry Campsites
Directions: Located approximately 1.57 miles from Black Bear Trailhead.   Park in the camper services building parking lot.  Take the Black Bear Trail (Trail 13) from the trailhead kiosk on the northern edge of the parking lot.  Follow Black Bear Trail until it intersects Trail 27.  Turn south (left) onto Trail 27.  Follow Trail 27 south until you see the backcountry toilet and the entrance to “Black Mountain Backcountry Campsites.”  Follow single track trail and carsonite markers to the campsites.  Campsite 1 is located approximately 260 feet to the left.  Campsite 2 is located approximately 478 feet to the right.


Tenderfoot Backcountry Campsites
Directions: Located approximately 1.37 miles from the Black Bear Trailhead. Park in the camper services building parking lot. Take the Black Bear Trail (Trail 13), from the trailhead kiosk on the northern edge of the parking lot. Follow Black Bear Trail until it intersects with Trail 25 (approximately .72 miles). Turn south (left) and follow Trail 25 for approximately .6 miles. Watch for the intersection labeled “Tenderfoot Backcountry Campsites” on the right (west) side of the trail.  Follow single track trail and carsonite markers to the campsites. Campsite 1 is located approximately 670 feet to the right. Campsite 2 is located approximately 987 feet further to the west.

Backcountry Camping Rules

  • No campfires.
  • Portable camp stoves, with shutoff valve permitted.
  • Store all food, cooking equipment, and personal toiletries in provided bear boxes.
  • Limit of 6 people per campsite.
  • All tents must fit on provided loose gravel tent pads (12x12).
  • No facilities for equine camping.
  • Dogs not permitted on trails or in backcountry.
  • Leave No Trace.  Pack out what you pack in.  There are no trash or recycling receptacles at sites.  
  • Please use the provided backcountry toilet facility.  DO NOT dig cat holes to use the restroom.
