    The boat ramp will close on October 31st for the winter, reopening around April 1st the following season, depending on ice melt.​

    As a reminder, to boat on Ridgway Reservoir, a pre-launch boat inspection for ANS is MANDATORY for all motorized vessels and trailered vessels.  Night launching is not permitted. If you have any questions about launching or the inspection process, feel free to contact the park at 970-626-5822. Thank you for your support in keeping Ridgway Reservoir free from destructive aquatic nuisances.

  • Cell Phone Coverage

    A cell tower in the park permits most carriers to have good reception in the park.  There is NO T-Mobile reception.

  • Fire Restrictions

    There are currently no fire bans in place. Due to dry conditions, please exercise extreme caution with all open flames. Fires are currently permitted in designated sites only. All fires must be attended at all times. Please have water available and keep flames below 2 ft. in height.

  • Hunting

    Due to limited backcountry areas and the proximity of recreation facilities, hunting is limited.  Hunters should contact the Park Visitor Center for specific and updated information on hunting at Ridgway State Park. 

    East Side of Hwy 550

    Big game and small game hunting on the EAST side of Hwy 550 in Game Unit 65, starts the Tuesday after Labor Day until December 1st of each year when the area is closed for big game winter habitat.  The area will open again on May 1st and hunting can be done until the Friday before Memorial Day (according to current seasons and licenses).  Always refer to CPW Hunting Regulation​s for information.

    ​Waterfowl 

    Waterfowl hunting is permitted within the park in specific areas along​​ the Dallas Creek shoreline October 1 - April 30 (according to current seasons and licenses). 

    West Side of Hwy 550

    Big and small game hunting along the WEST shoreline of the reservoir is open October 1 - April 30 (according to current seasons and licenses) 

    Hunters should check with the Park Visitor Center for maps, specific closures and regulations.​​ Also see the CPW Hunting section​ for seasonal information.​​

  • Park Entrance

    All vehicles entering the park must have a valid vehicle pass. Please use the self service passes available at each entrance at the self-serve stations 1 day at a time. Park passes and services are available year-round at the Park Visitor Center 8:00am - 4:00pm (except state holidays which include Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year).

  • Road Conditions

    Roads are open. As always, watch for wildlife on all roads! For road conditions outside of the park, go to cotrip.org​.

  • Seasonal Closures

    Dakota Terraces Loops B and C - Open for the season 
    Elk Ridge D Loop and back side of E Loop - Open for the season
    Pa-Co-Chu- F and G Loops - Open for the season
    Camper Service Buildings - Open for the season
    Swim beach - Open for the season
    Ridgway Reservoir - Open for the season
    Many of the park flush restrooms are open for the season. 
    Flush restrooms​ converted to vault restrooms in many areas during winter season.

  • Trails

    Ridgway has 14 miles of trail.  Mear's Bay trail at Dutch Charlie and Marmot Run at Dallas Creek are concrete pathways that have somewhat melted and are best for walkers with no equipment.

  • Water Levels

    Lake elevation is presently 6846 ft.  Water levels have decreased significantly and the SwimBeach area is closed.  Beware of shallow water hazards, expecially on the western shore, and sand bars withing the Dallas Creek area on the southern end of the reservoir.  Water Temperature at the surface is 60​​​ degrees depending on your location throughout the reservoir.  ​Deeper water temperatures flowing through the damn are 48-50 degrees.
