​​​Regular evening programs and naturalist-guided hikes during warm months and periodically in the fall and winter are a great outdoor educational experience for individuals or groups. Individuals can partake in guided hikes and evening programs. Groups can schedule special “outdoor” education experience. Classrooms can only go so far, schedule a great guided learning experience at the park, a very natural “outdoor” experience.

Check the Visitor Center or calendar for a schedule. School or group programs held on or off-site are available by special appointment. Contact the Visitors Center for more information.

Deer, elk, black bear, cougar, as well as coyote, red fox, and prairie dogs are just some of the animals that call the park home. A wide variety of birds including red-tail hawks, golden eagles, and wild turkey soar and roam the area. Wildlife and bird lists are available at the Visitor’s Center or download the Bird Checklist.

When viewing wildlife, please keep a respectful distance from the animals and remember that pets are not allowed on the trails and in the backcountry.
